The CDIF Common Subject Area
The CDIF Common Subject Area collects a number of concepts that are shared across domains and therefore should not be defined in more specific Subject Area.
Some of these concepts are: ToolUser (to identify the creator/updator of a model element), or AlternateName. The Common Subject Area also provides SemanticInformationObject and PresentationInformationObject that are used as abstract supertypes for the concepts in the CDIF Integrated Meta-model that are purely semantic or purely presentational.
The use of the Common Subject Area is not required, but will likely be appropriate for most transfers.
Standards Availability
The 1995 Common Subject Area is available in print and electronically.
